1st Aquatics Friendship Day at Corinth Nautical Club.

On Wednesday 14 September, Corinth Municipal Swimming Pool hosted a major celebration of Corinth Nautical Club’s junior programmes!

It was a wonderful event, featuring demonstrations by every section of the club, from the learner pool and swimming lessons to the competitive squads that compete for honours at the Greek National Swimming Championships.

With 200 swimmers from every section of Corinth Nautical Club (NOK) taking part, the event demonstrated the club’s strong presence in local aquatic sport, as well as its contribution to teaching swimming skills for safe exercise along our coast and beaches. The huge turnout of swimmers, friends and accompanying family members, who packed the stands and other areas of Corinth Municipal Swimming Pool, highlighted in the clearest possible way the need for new, more modern facilities.

The highlight of the event was the presence of Greek champions and national swimming team members Angeliki Zamaria, Alkis Kynigakis and Konstantinos Meretsolias. These three swimmers are role models for the next generation, having represented our country with distinction and earned numerous honours while also pursuing successful academic careers. Our young swimmers had the pleasure of watching them swim and receive awards, and of having their photographs taken with them, bringing the event to a perfect close. We warmly thank them for the inspiring memories they gave our club’s swimmers and hope to welcome them back at a future event.

We would also like to thank the Mayor of Corinth, Mr Vasileios Nanopoulos, KE PAP President Mr Themistoklis Koutsogkilas, KE PAP Vice-President Mr Giorgos Magklaras, and Deputy Mayor for Tourism Mr Timoleon Pietris for attending our celebration and for their selfless support of the club. We would also like to thank former club swimmer, Hellenic Olympic Committee member, Hellenic Swimming Federation swimming coordinator and Olympian Nikolaos Xylouris for attending.

It is important for our swimmers to find role models within their own city and club. Our warm thanks go to Athina Tsarmpou for providing the music and presenting the celebration, creating the perfect atmosphere for the event. We thank Manos Kounelakis for his thoroughly professional photographic coverage of the whole occasion. Finally, a big thank you to everyone who conceived, planned and delivered the celebration: the board, coaches, volunteers and, of course, the parents who supported the entire event.

We are already looking ahead to and working towards the 2nd Aquatics Friendship Day in 2023!

Be the exception - Be NOK!
