The 5th PANATHINAIKOS TROPHY for competitive age groups took place at the OAKA indoor swimming pool on 3-5 December 2022. Our swimmers finished with 4 medals, 10 top-ten finishes and a total of 39 personal bests!
Teams from across Greece and Cyprus took part, giving the event the feel of a national championship. There were also guest appearances by two legends of swimming, the Olympic Games and the US national team, Ryan Lochte and Michael Andrew, who delighted young and old alike by signing autographs, posing for photographs and even… competing!
Stars of the Greek swimming scene were also in attendance, including Anna Ntountounaki, Nora Drakou, Kristian Gkolomeev, Apostolos Papastamou, Apostolos Christou and Konstantinos Meretsolias.
Unsurprisingly, these big names, combined with the large number of teams and swimmers taking part, attracted plenty of public interest, filling the stands at OAKA throughout the three-day event!
The team's medals came from:
▪️ Konstantinos Antonopoulos, who put in a fantastic performance with personal bests in all three of his events!
Gold in the 200m butterfly in 2:20.51, knocking 5 seconds off his personal best!!!
Silver in the 400m individual medley in 5:10.46.
- Sixth place in the 200m individual medley in 2:28.33!
